TASTE Results

The Goals of the TASTE project are:

- the identification of TASTE usage scenario for each kind of user (doctors, technicians and students), both for training and VET (Vocational Education and Training) purposes then to join community where it will be feasible to compare preparations/diagnosis assessed by experts. These scenario will be defined tailored to the characteristics of the end users and assessed with real users;
- the realization of a TASTE system which will combine a fully sustainable system of e-learning and lifelong learning solutions with a microscopic images and slides repository (a sort of “virtual microscope”) collected and continuously updated in different languages;
- the set up of a TASTE virtual community and network where students and experts in the field of histology, cytology and anatomy-pathology could compare preparations and diagnosis with a large number of already defined cases and  in continuous update.

TASTE will produce as results of the project:

- A report containing guidelines for refinement of users needs analysis and inputs for refinement of TASTE users scenarios
- Detailed scenarios for the different target groups in the form of use cases
- A “living” archive of histological and cytological images and slides
- An assessment Framework for pilot testing
- A plan for quality assurance of the project
- A report documenting the dissemination plan
- Organisation of 5 TASTE workshops in Sweden, Romania, Portugal, Belgium and Italy
- A report on the exploitation plan and activities

The aforementioned results, besides improving substantially the quality of learning in these fields, will also  lead to a continuous increase in the quality of preparations (a very strong need, at present) and consequently to more accurate diagnosis.
